Lukas Ortmann
I am combining, control and optimization to solve power systems problems. With the help of the NCCR, my research is now running in a power grid that supplies 100.000 people.
Lukas Ortmann was a PhD student at the Automatic Control Laboratory (ifa) at ETH Zürich, from 2018 to 2023. He obtained his undergraduate and graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in 2014 and 2018, respectively. During his graduate studies, he was a visiting student at the Mechanical Department of the University of California, Berkeley and conducted research with the Doyle Group at Harvard University, Cambridge. He was a scholar of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and the Dr. Jürgen Ulderup Program for Mechanical Engineering. For his outstanding academic achievements during his graduate studies at RWTH Aachen he was awarded the Springorum Commemorative Coin and the Otto Junker Award.
After graduating from his PhD he took up a position as Professor for Control Systems at OST in Rapperswil.
