Kaveh Razavi receives federally funded ERC Starting Grant

Prof. Kaveh Razavi, head of the Computer Security group and Principal Investigator at the NCCR Automation, wants to increase the security of computer hardware and microprocessors with a new approach. To this end, he has subsequently received an ERC Starting Grant. Due to Switzerland's exclusion from funding by the European Research Council ERC, the project is now being funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI.
Kaveh

Kaveh Razavi researches computer hardware security. He is studying the security of microprocessors, arguably the most important and complex component of computing devices today. His ERC project, PROMISE (Proactive Microarchitectural Security), is about increasing hardware security by already considering security vulnerabilities at the hardware design stage. If hardware vulnerabilities can be avoided at the microprocessor manufacturing stage, this could significantly reduce costs for the industry and at the same time increase the security of end users. To this end, Kaveh Razavi will be developing new, data-driven and ultimately automated security analysis techniques for hardware designs.
