Recent advances in AI have opened up a whole new world of automation possibilities—NCCR Automation gives us the chance to actually test them in practice!
Stavros Orfanoudakis is a PhD candidate at TU Delft working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the energy transition. His research develops and applies methods for sequential decision-making, combining reinforcement learning, physics-informed learning, and foundation models (including large language models), with an emphasis on both real-world impact and theoretical grounding. He is currently a visiting researcher at ETH Zurich’s Power Systems Laboratory, where he applies these techniques to solve power-system challenges.
