At the four participating institutions, ETH Zurich, EPF Lausanne, Empa and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), more than 40 scientists will research new approaches over the coming years to reliably control complex automation systems and develop applications in the fields of energy, mobility and industrial manufacturing. "We want to coordinate research and technology transfer nationwide, improve the flow of information between institutions, exploit synergies and make technology transfer more effective", explains John Lygeros, director of the NCCR Automation. Another important concern is the promotion of young talent so that Switzerland can maintain its leading position in innovation in automation in the future. The NCCR Automation is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
