This is why the National Centre of Competence in Research on Dependable, Ubiquitous Automation (NCCR Automation), is laying the foundations of dependable automation systems and is implementing the resulting solutions in practice to demonstrate their social relevance.
NCCRs are interdisciplinary research networks funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). They support research in areas that are of strategic importance for the future of Swiss science, economy and society.

The NCCR Automation is led by ETH Zurich; the research network comprises institutes from EPF Lausanne, Empa and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). Eighteen Principal Investigators (PI) lead the scientific work, and numerous doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers are engaged in the various research teams.
