Some 100 doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers collaborate in the NCCR Automation. Our conferences (e.g. Swiss CLOCK Summit), networking events, internal retreats, workshops and courses (as well as the targeted industry-facing support of the REAL lab) help to launch their subsequent career steps.
Our members can also benefit from the SNSF Mobility Grants, along with our own internal research funds for organizing retreats, workshops and research visits.
We also offer a Fellowship programme for foreign students to visit one of the groups affiliated with NCCR Automation for up to 6 months.
For Bachelor’s and Master’s students, we run lectures and tutorials and offer thesis projects at the participating institutes.
The Ashesi-ETH Master's Programme in Mechatronic Engineering, delivered jointly by Ashesi University in Ghana and ETH Zurich, integrates core areas of automation and production engineering while including modules from decision-making, economics and management to help students build strong engineering careers.

We design continuing education programmes to enhance automation skills within industry and work to promote knowledge transfer through meetings, conferences and industry events. A great example of this is the newly launched CAS in Automation.

We work with a number of organisations to support learning. Look at our schools and kids page to see what courses and resources we have that could help you.

NCCR Automation is committed to promoting equal opportunities for all, breaking down barriers of gender, cultural background and more, in the workplace and elsewhere. Learn more about what we do to pursue these goals, as a core part of our mission, and support all our members.

We are proud sponsors of the inControl podcast, the first podcast on control theory. Started in NCCR Automation in 2022 and spun out from there, join host and alumnus Alberto Padoan as he chats with the greatest names in the field.
