The intersection of robotics and automation control holds real-world impact, from traditional automation to emerging space and agri-food robotics.
Josie Hughes is an Assistant Professor at EPFL leading the CREATE Lab. Following her PhD at Cambridge and a postdoc at MIT, her research focuses on bio-inspired design paradigms, specifically pioneering soft robotics and complex manipulation. Her lab develops soft robots, tactile-driven robotic hands, and autonomous systems that exploit compliance, physical morphology, and environmental interaction. They explore how to design such robots through model based, model free or generative approaches.
