I am passionate about the development and application of mathematical tools to facilitate the transition towards a more sustainable future.

Lesia Mitridati was a Postdoc in the Power Systems Laboratory at ETH Zurich between October 2020 and April 2022. She obtained her PhD in Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark in 2019. From 2019 to 2020 she was a Postdoc in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, in Atlanta (USA), where she conducted research in the area of market design for integrated energy systems. Her research interests are at the interface between optimization, machine learning, game theory, and their applications to answer economic questions about energy systems.

Design and Pricing of Ancillary Services in Stochastic Energy Systems

Summary

The provision of ancillary services is an important aspect to ensure the stability and the functioning of the electric power system, even more so in a system with increasing levels of renewable generation. However, the type of ancillary services and how they are being compensated likely needs to be adjusted from the current practice, which was designed for highly centralized energy production and inflexible demand. In this project, we will identify the type of services needed, how the capabilities of the individual resources can optimally be used and how they should be remunerated for their services.
