Interdisciplinary research connecting control, optimization and machine learning is key to achieve efficient, flexible, resilient and sustainable electric power systems by 2050

Federica Bellizio is a Postdoctoral researcher at Empa and visiting researcher at Imperial College London in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She received the B.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering in 2015 from Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II in her home country, the M.Sc. degree in Robotics, Systems and Control in 2018 from ETH Zurich and the Ph.D. degree in the Control and Power Research Group at Imperial College London. During her PhD, Federica investigated data-driven approaches for the dynamically secure and cost-efficient operation and control of future sustainable transmission networks with high shares of renewable generation. Her current research interests include the development of data-driven algorithms to enable cost-efficient energy management of sites and provision of demand-side flexibility at utility and national levels.
