The world of automatic control fascinates me because it spans a wide range of fields, integrating mathematics, physics, and computer science into a single discipline that provides innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.
Since June 2023, Laura Boca de Giuli is a PhD researcher in Systems and Control at Politecnico di Milano working in the group of Prof. Riccardo Scattolini. In March 2025, she began a research period within Prof. Melanie Zeilinger’s group at ETH Zurich. She received the Bachelor’s Degree in 2020 and the Master of Science in 2023, both cum laude in Automation and Control Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. In 2021, she spent a semester as an exchange student at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
Her research interests include physics-informed machine learning, model predictive control, and lifelong learning. Outside of engineering, she enjoys engaging in sports, exploring nature, and savoring good (preferably Italian) food.
