Improving our decision-making tools is key for tackling global challenges. Working on optimization and machine learning gives me the chance to do so.

Leonardo Massai is a post-doctoral scientist at at the Automatic Control Laboratory, EPFL - Lausanne, working in the DECODE group with Prof. Giancarlo Ferrari Trecate on distributed control based on neural networks and machine learning. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Business Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2012 and his master's degree in Mathematical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2015. During his master's, he was exposed to a diverse range of topics in applied mathematics. Leonardo then earned his PhD from Politecnico di Torino, where he researched graph and game theory. His research interests include optimization theory, machine learning, and financial mathematics.
